From the State Service Officer – John Runfola
Please check the currency of your forms – I continue to receive claims with out-of-date form editions, which VA has superseded and will reject if well past their “freshness date”. Especially these forms from April 1, 2016;
21P-527 Income, Net Worth, and Employment Status. 04/2016
21P-527EZ Request for Pension. 04/2016
21P-0847 Request for Substitution of Claimant Upon Death of Claimant. 03/2016
21P-1775 Statement of Disappearance. 04/2016
To all Veterans who are eligible for VA Healthcare and Medicare. Please review your Medicare Part B option and carefully consider whether to opt out of Part B coverage. Only one ER visit would be more than covered, rather than incur a potential financial hardship.
And for those Veterans who currently have VA Healthcare eligibility please verify your VA Choice Program status by calling 1-866-606-8198. This program was funded by Congress with limited tax dollars allocated to it.
So use it or lose it!
Change is inevitable, even VA is proposing radical change in an effort to streamline the VA Appeals Process. I encourage each and every Service Officer to learn all that you can about these sweeping changes that are proposed for rapid implementation. Please check www.vfw.org/news&events for updates.
