VETERAN’S NEWS From the Internet
by Bob Kinsler, SSG (ret), US Army, VFW Dept. of Oklahoma, Public Affairs Officer
I went to the VFW Department of Oklahoma Fall Festival last weekend, hoping to gather some interesting news from the other districts on what, if anything, they are planning to do for the next few months. Especially what will be happening on November 11, 2017 (a Saturday, this year).
Well, I know in Hugo the Roots Association is planning on having a Veterans Day Parade (details coming) as is Durant (likewise details coming). I also heard VFW District 4 is having its annual military ball in November (tickets and details coming).
Either I fell asleep during the rest of the reports or did not hear if anyone else was planning anything. Could be since I was also taking pictures of the events ongoing during the meeting. Markwayne Mullins stopped by to address the conference and let us all know he is trying to get more benefits for the veterans of his district (including transportation from Pushmataha County to VA Facilities the veterans want to go too).
So, I am going to cut this short, as I need to get with a few of the others to see if I can gain more information on the events the VFW Districts are doing for the next few months (including all the upcoming holidays).
The Family Care facility in Clayton and Boswell does accept VA Choice Programs, Dr. Ellis wants all the veterans of Pushmataha and Choctaw county to know. As these facilities also accept Tri-Care. So, with the Medical Facilities in Antlers, Hugo and Idabel (along with the VA Outpatient clinic in Idabel) Veterans in South East Oklahoma do have a wide range of establishments veterans can go to for health care. Transportation (for those veterans who cannot drive nor have a family support to provide transportation) to these medical facilities is still an issue which the help of Markwayne Mullins I am trying to solve.
That is all for now, next week I hope I will have more details on the Parades and the VFW District 4 military ball (dress is formal for the event), along with what else is happening in the State of Oklahoma.
By the way, if you want to complain, add your support, or have something you want added to this article contact via email me at BobKinsler@aol.com. This is the veterans’ news and if you have something let me know, please.
